Ahmedabad Airport likely to shut for air traffic between 10 am – 7 pm for one and half month

Ahmedabad: Repair and maintenance work of runaway at Sardar Patel International Airport here will commence later this month. The task will be taken up in two phases. The first phase will start from next Friday and continue till February 28.
The second phase, involving re-carpeting of the runway, will begin on March 1 and continue till April 15. During the second phase, flight operations will be suspended from 10 am to 7 pm period.
The airport authority has already conveyed the schedule to all airlines operating from this airport.
Heavy congestion and increase in prices of air tickets are expected as a result in the month of March. Some operators are mulling option of shifting some flights to Vadodara for the period and facilitate bus travel between Ahmedabad and Vadodara for passengers.
