Opposition withdraws no confidence motion against Speaker, ruling party proposed to reduce suspension period of 3 Congress MLAs

Gandhinagar: Opposition Congress party has today withdrawn the no confidence motion it had moved against the assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi. With this the motion will not come to discussion.

On the other hand, as compromise formula, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has agreed and proposed to reduce the period of suspension of three Congress MLA from three and one year to just the end of this session of assembly.

The house had suspended Congress MLAs Pratap Dudhat and Ambrish Der for three years and MLA Baldevji Thakor for one year for violence in assembly. Suspended MLAs were denied entry not just to assembly floor but even assembly complex.

Suspended MLAs had filed plea in the High Court against their suspension. They are going to withdraw their plea now.

In related development, MLAs Jagdish Panchal and Vikram Madam apologized in the house for violence incident in the assembly. Panchal clarified it again that he had not spoken any offending word. Madam assured the house that he would not do anything in this full term that may spark off such situation in the house.

Series of meetings and communication between the leaders of two parties paved a way for compromise formula. The budget session of assembly is going to end tomorrow.
