MoS Home Jadeja announces number of actions to further strengthen the Anti Corruption Bureau

Gandhinagar: Minister of State for Home, Pradipsinh Jadeja today said that conviction rate of Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) has gone up from 26% to 39% in last five years.

He said, the govt is going to appoint two public prosecutors per court for ACB case trials in each sessions court. They will directly report to ACB. The government has already appointed Special Public Prosecutors for important cases of ACB.

Jadeja further said that the government will also appoint legal support staff to assist the investigator officer in prosecution in ACB court cases.

For approval of prosecution in such cases, a meeting will be held each month by ACS Home, ACS General Administration department and ACB director.

A committee of three secretaries chaired by ACS Home will be formed for speedy clearance to ACB’s pending applications for probe against class-1 officers.

A special unit will be formed in ACB to file cases related to disproportionate assets of public servants

Vigilance officers are appointed in all areas of the State. Vigilance Officers will coordinate with ACB.

Most of pending cases of ACB are pending due to Forensic Science Laboratory(FSL) report. The government has decided to equip the offices of FSL better. ACB’s assistant director office will have technical and forensic support unit. FSL and ACB will be able to get the samples checked at Gujarat Forensic Science University(GFSU).

In first three months of this year, cases are filed against 31 including 10 public servants and 17 private persons.
