Saudi firm Alfanar to set up 300 MW windmill project in Kutch district of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: According to a report in the Indian Express Alfanar, a Saudi Arabia-based firm which had recently bagged the 300 MW wind project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd, will be setting up a 300 megawatt (MW) windmill project covering 131 wind turbines at 50 km, north-east of district headquarters Bhuj in Kutch district of Gujarat that will help electrify over 2.9 lakh households.The project is slated to be commissioned within 18 months from the signing of the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement). The project is expected to be operational by December 2019.Alfanar had visited the Vibrant Gujarat 2017 summit and had inked an MoU.
According to renewablesnow, under the terms of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal, Senvion will supply and install 131 units of its 2.3M 120 turbines at the project site of Alfanar in Gujarat, and will also take care of the electrical and civil works. The German firm also got a 10-year comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) contract. Senvion expects to commission the wind park within the next 18 months. Upon completion, it will be able to generate enough power to meet the annual needs of nearly 290,000 homes.
