Gandhinagar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be on visit to Gujarat on 16-17 July. This was announced by state Congress incharge Rajiv Satav on his arrival at Ahmedabad today.

Though the detailed progamme of Rahul Gandhi’s visit is not available yet, sources say he may visit three districts of Saurashtra region, namely Junagadh, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.

Saurashtra region of Gujarat has seven Lok Sabha seats. Congress had lost all 26 seats in Gujarat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Next general election of Lok Sabha is scheduled next year. In the backdrop of electoral success achieved in Saurashtra region last year in assembly polls, the party is eyeing revival in Lok Sabha polls here next year.

Satav said, ‘during the assembly election here last year, we worked hard, but that was a trailer. We had some shortcomings but in parliament election the results from here will be surprising.’
