Water level in Ambika rising; low lying areas on river bank in Navsari district alerted

Navsari: Due to heavy rainfall in upstream areas, level of water in river Ambika which flows through Navsari district and city is rising. One NDRF team has been kept on standby mode for relocation and rescue work if need arise.

There’s flood in Aji river in Rajkot city due to swelling of tributary Khokhadadadi following heavy rain in upstream Gondal and Kotda Sangani talukas of Rajkot district.

Villages in low lying area on the bank of river Ambika such as Bigri, Mendhar, Masa, Vaghrech, Chhapar, Kalamtha, Bhatha, Morli, Dhamdachha, Torangam, Gadat, Khakhwada, Sonwadi, Kachholi, Ajrai, Undach, Goyndi Bhathla, Devdha, Salej, Gandevi, Bilimora.

Water level in Mithi Khadi of Surat was going up constantly, but it is steady for now. SMC has kept its staff in standby mode in Limbayat zone for any relocation necessary.

Meanwhile, Delhi-Surat Spice Jet flight was diverted in the morning to Ahmedabad due to bad weather at Surat airport. Air Asia’s Bengaluru-Surat flight was also diverted.

About 197 state highways and roads in south Gujarat were closed for vehicular and pedestrian movements due to heavy water logging following heavy rains in the last 24 hours. 77 roads were in Navsari, 52 in Tapi district, 26 in Surat, 21 in Valsad district, 17 in Dangs.
