July 23, 2018
Surat: It happens after a gap of every few years. Whenever the gas station operators through their association decide they want more commission from company, they go on strike. It has happened again now.
About 40 CNG pumps in South Gujarat have gone on strike from today seeking more commission from State run Gujarat Gas company.
While 60 CNG franchises across Gujarat seek 57 paisa increase in commission, Gujarat Gas has announced increase of 29 paisa in commission. The company has already given 20% increase in inflation rate in last two years. Gujarat has more than 300 company and PSU run gas stations against which only 60 stations belong to franchises. Even among them most are agreeing to 29% commission hike, according to Gujarat Gas company.
South Gujarat CNG franchisee Association argues that PSU pumps attract Rs 3.17 per Kg service charge while franchise attract Rs 2.60 per kg service charge.
The association also opposes opening of newer gas stations near existing onse. To this, Gujarat Gas company argues that it is goverment policy to make arrangement of new gas station near those where too much rush is spotted regularly.
