Bhuj: A 13-year old girl child Dimpal Devjibhai Maheshwari was dead on fifth day after getting MMR vaccine in Khirsara(Kothara) village of Abdasa taluka of Kutch district in Gujarat.

8th standard student Dimple was given MMR vaccine on July 19. She started vomiting within an hour. A deaf and dumb girl Dimple was later treated by a private practitioner at Kothara. As her health deteriorated, she was taken to Naliya referral hospital where she died.

RCHO of district panchayat Dr. Bhargav, WHO doctor Rahul Kamal and others rushed to the place. The dead body was taken to Jamnagar based Forensic Laboratory.

While locals initially refused to take dead body in protest, the doctors said 10 other children were also given same vaccine in same school, but they were all doing well, therefore the vaccine itself is not responsible for death.

This is second such incident of death in Gujarat in which a student has been dead after vomiting and other complications post getting MMR vaccine.
