Gujarat govt hikes honorarium pay and allowances of municipal councillors

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today announced its decision to increase monthly honorarium of elected Councillors of eight municipal corporations in the state.
According to a note, councillors of municipal corporations of Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot will get Rs 12,000 per month honorarium pay, while Councillors of Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh & Gandhinagar municipal corporations will get Rs 7,000 per month honorarium. Earlier, all the corporators were getting monthly honorarium of Rs 3000.
Meeting allowance per meeting will be Rs 500, telephone allowance will be Rs 1,000 and stationary allowance will be Rs 1500 per month. Earlier allowance for meeting, telephone(monthly) and stationary was Rs 250, Rs 750 and Rs 500 respectively.
The hike will be effective from April 1, 2018.
