64.06 lakh families, 3.25 crore people of Gujarat covered under Ma Yojana; Rs 171 billion spent for beneficiaries so far

Vadodara: As many as 64.06 lakh(64,06,545) families or 3.25 crore people in Gujarat are covered under Ma Vatsalya Yojana(MVY). Of them 12.10 lakh(12,10,585) persons have benefitted from MVY. The State government spent Rs 171 billion for them.

While State government has provision for upto Rs 3 lakh assistance each year to family, Ayushyaman Yojana launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provision for upto Rs 5 lakh assistance for medical care.

Hospitals covered under MVY have Arogya Mitra in place. They help MVY beneficiaries right from admission in hospital. The government also provides assistance for transportation of patients under MVY.

Speaking in the function the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister said the State government will continue to offer benefits of MVJ even after introduction of Ayushman scheme of the Centre. Those not covered under Ayushman but covered under MVY will continue to enjoy MVY coverage.

These details were shared during MVY card distribution programme held by Rajendra Trivedi Fan Club in Vadodara in presence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel among others.

Around 45 volunteers of Trivedi Fan Club explored the ward number 16 for 40 days and enrolled 5,000 citizens to MVY.

As per the figures shared in the function, 2,98,335 families or around 15 lakh people in Vadodara district are covered under MVY. The State government spent Rs 117 crore for 72,740 beneficiaries. There are 23 private and government hospitals that offer medical services under MVY in Vadodara city.

MVY card avails assistance upto Rs 3 lakh to card holder’s family(per year) in prescribed private and public hospitals for 575 types of procedures including cancer, kidney, heart, knee replacement etc related treatment/operation.

The scheme was originally launched by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi covering 35 lakh below poverty line(BPL) people in first phase.

Government has covered senior citizens with income upto Rs 5 lakh/year under MVY.
