Level of water in Sardar Sarovar dam crosses old overflow mark

Bharuch: Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam is witnessing continuing heavy inflow of water from upstream areas of Madhya Pradesh. The level of water in the dam is now at 122.09 meter(at 8 am today), well above old overflow mark. The dam is witnessing rise of 3 cm in water level per hour. Before erection of gates, the hight of the dam was 121.92 meter. However, after erection of gates, water storage capacity has increased. With water level rising, one unit of canal head power house has been made operational. 4888 cu sec water is being released from main canal. The dam is filled with 55.99% of total storage capacity.
