On 13th day of ‘indefinite fast’ Hardik Patel uses wheelchair to access toilet; Doctor says vitally normal but he should allow tests

Ahmedabad: Congress aide quota agitation leader Hardik Patel’s ‘fast unto death’ entered 13th day today. Hardik was visibly very weak today and could be seen using wheel-chair to access toilet. Hardik’s personal doctor said, the wheel chair was brought to the place following fear that Hardik may lose balance while walking due to weakness and fall down.

A senior government doctor after checking vitals of Hardik Patel said, ‘he is vitally stable. He has complained that he is unable to walk and suffering from stomach pain. His temperature and blood pressure is normal. His pulse has increased. He has refused to allow blood and urine investigation. His personal doctor has assured that samples will be given in the evening. If samples are given, then tests can be conducted and better judgement can be made. We have asked him for hospitalization and told that it is needed, but Hardik refuses. Hardik’s weight was 69.4 kg yesterday but today it is 64.5 kg which shows reduction of 4.5 to 5 kg.’

In other developments, over dozen Patidar community medical students and doctors were not allowed to meet Hardik Patel in group. They were allowed to go inside one-by-one. They were stopped by police outside the Greenwood resort due to section 144 imposition. Among those who came to meet Hardik Patel in the morning were folk singer Alpa Patel, former member of parliament Dinsha Patel and Congress MLA Virji Thummar.

Meanwhile police detained Hardik aides Satish Patel and Suresh Thakrey in Mahesana in connection with tyre burning case on Modhera road last evening. In Patan, Morbi and Surat, Congress workers and Hardik supporters attempted forcible closure of school/colleges. Some persons in this connection were detained in Surat and Morbi by police. Bechraji, Bhayavadar, Gundala road in Gondal, Mini bajar in Surat were among places where partial/total bandh was observed in support of Hardik Patel.
