Hardik Patel, aides decide for hospitalization, taken to Sola Civil hospital, Naresh Patel said he may end fast by tomorrow morning

Ahmedabad: Congress aide quota agitation leader Hardik Patel was today taken to Sola Civil hospital here today. Sola Civil hospital is located on SG road near Hardik Patel’s fast venue. His hospitalization took place after Khodaldham Trust Chairman Naresh Patel spoke to Hardik at his fast venue.

Hardik had stopped taking water for last 18 hours as per Naresh Patel. He had stopped taking grain for last 14 days. Last evening, Chief Medical Office(CMO) of Sola Civil hospital had visited Hardik’s fast venue and asked him to admit in hospital as acetone level in his urine test was 3+. Hardik was asked for hospitalization by CMO, but he refused last evening. CMO had told media persons that Hardik if not admitted to hospital would go unconscious gradually.

According to Hardik supporting Congress MLA from Tankara, Hardik was told that he could face permanent health issue such as damage to kidney if not attended by doctors in hospital.

Hardik’s aide Manoj Panara said that Hardik was hospitalized after deterioration in his health and problem in breathing. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance (the special one kept near his Greenwood resort residence by government). Panara however said that Hardik has not agreed to end his fast so far. Panara said Hardik’s hospitalization and Naresh Patel’s visit were not linked. A decision on hospitalization was taken after Naresh Patel departed. Parana said personal doctors of Hardik were present in the ward. It should be mentioned that yesterday evening Panara had expressed fear that Hardik would be forcibly admitted to hospital by government and later as part of conspiracy to finish Hardik. it would be declared by government that his kidney and other organs were damaged before he arrived in hospital.

A special ward on 6th floor of Sola Civil hospital was kept ready for Hardik. Gate number 3 of Sola Civil hospital was reserved for his entry. The government had kept a mobile intensive care unit van standby at Hardik’s fast venue with a team of doctors.

A senior doctor in Sola hospital said that a team of doctors is taking care of his health. After thorough investigation of his health he would be provided treatment including medicines for stomach pain and other things and would be given intravenous fluids also.

First priority of doctors would be to bring acetone level to zero for which he will be given glucose and liquid such as fruit juice. If the issue is limited to acetone level, and Hardik starts taking liquid again, Hardik’s recovery is possible in two-three days.

According to Naresh Patel who had called on Hardik just before his hospitalization, Hardik may end his fast today or tomorrow morning.

Hardik was on fast demanding reservation quota for Patidar community members in jobs and education, release of his aide Alpesh Kathiriya who is in judicial custody in year 2015 sedition case and waiver of farmers’ debt.

The State government has not held talk with him in response to his fast agitation and not accepted any of his demands so far.

Leuva Patel community leader and chairman of Khodaldham Trust, Rajkot based Naresh Patel voluntarily decided to play a role of mediator between Hardik Patel and government. Naresh Patel said he would take Umiya Dham trust of Kadva Patidar community along and later speak to government over Hardik’s demands. Naresh Patel said while the demand of reservation quota had legal issues attached, the other demands could be pursued with government.
