Monsoon withdraws further southward in Gujarat, temperatures soaring due to cloudless sky

Ahmedabad: The South West monsoon has further withdrawn southward in Gujarat.
The met bulletin today said that the monsoon which had started withdrawal process in Gujarat since September 29 has further withdrawn from some more parts of the state and the withdrawal line today passed through Bharuch and Veraval.
Like earlier seven years the withdrawal process has been delayed this year also.
The normal period for onset of South West Monsoon in Gujarat is September 15 and its starts from Kutch region and in a matter of few days it leaves all parts of the state. But since 2011 it is not happening on time.
Notably the state is still deprived of around one fourth of its average rainfall this year.
Gujarat till date has received only 76.61% of rain.
Kutch region has seen only 26.51%. North Gujarat only 48.04% East Central Gujarat 71.55%, Saurashtra 72.76% and South Gujarat 96.40%.
Last year the monsoon had arrived in Gujarat on June 12, three days before normal date of June 15 and the withdrawal had started from September 27, almost 12 days after the normal date. The total rainfall last year was more than 110%.
This year the monsoon had arrived almost a week late on June 22.
Meanwhile due to cloudless sky and bright sun the temperatures across Gujarat were also on a rise giving the feeling of summer in some parts. Ahmedabad today recorded a maximum of 37.2 Bhuj recorded the highest in this regard at 41.3 degree. Many other places also saw over 35 temperatures which were 2 to 4 degrees above normal.
