Gujarat gets ‘Best Agriculture State’ Award at 11th Global Agriculture Leadership Award-2018 in New Delhi

Gandhinagar: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh presented the National ‘Best Agriculture State Award’, instituted by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture, to Gujarat at the 11th Global Agriculture Leadership Summit and Leadership Award-2018 in New Delhi last evening.
The award was received by Gujarat’s Agriculture Minister R.C. Faldu, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) Sanjay Prasad and Director of Agriculture Bharat Modi.
Father of India’s Green Revolution M.S. Swaminathan was the Chairman of the Jury for Selection.
According to citation, Gujarat received the award for its initiatives and introducing new ideas like Krishi Mahotsav, Soil Health Card, Water Conservation, Precision Irrigation, Post-Harvest Management, Dairy and Animal Husbandry, besides application of satellite imagery, GIM mapping and UAV while adopting new technologies during the last 2-3 years.
Gujarat’s other feat has been successfully controlling the pink bollworm attack on Bt Cotton by the State’s Agriculture Department through its Extension network and services.
