NTPC to generate power using from solid waste of Surat, MoU signed

Surat: National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC) has signed Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) for scientific processing of solid waste and power generation through that. MoU was signed by SMC commissioner and NTPC GM (waste to energy) Amit Kulkshetra along with director CV Subramanyam.
As per the MoU, SMC will give per day 1000 mt RDF based solid waste to NTPC Kavas through which NTPC will generate power.
RDT to power generation plant will be set up at NTPC Kavas. Transportation cost for carrying solid waste from Surat to NTPC plant will be beard by NTPC. Detailed agreement on this project will be signed by the end of this year.
Surat generates 2100 tonne RDF based solid waste every day, of which 1,000 tonne waste will be taken away by NTPC for power generation.
