Changes in Central Motor Vehicle Rules; single driver allowed, brown color not mandatory for national permit trucks

Gandhinagar: The Government of India has accepted the demand of transporters and allowed single driver in trucks that have national permit. Dark brown color paint will not be mandatory anymore for trucks having national permit.
The Government of India has made amendments in Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 and asked truckers to write N/P (National Permit) in bold font at front side and back side of trucks. In case of trailer, N/P needs to be written on left side of trailer. In case of tankers carrying risky items, N/P needs to be written in white fonts.
Renewal and fitness certificate will be issued at a gap of every two years instead of yearly renewal provision at present. Fitness certificate will not be needed for new vehicle for upto first two years. Usint of tadpatri(plastic sheet cover) will be necessary under rule 138 B. Carrying items in open will not be allowed. Electric documents will be considered valid.
