Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has decided to suspend the then municipal commissioner of Junagadh and promoted IAS officer V J Rajput in connection with alleged irregularities during his tenure.

During the tenure of Rajput, instances of alleged irregularity in purchase of iron grills for putting on the dividers, recruitment of some permanent employees of the corporation and others including selling good conditioned vehicles as scrapped ones had come to fore.

He was municipal commissioner of Junagadh from 26-09-16 to 08-04-18. He has been suspended from the retrospective effect.

Notably, 1965 born 53 year old Rajput was among 11 GAS officials who were promoted as IAS in April 2016.
