Dahej – Ghogha ro-pax ferry ship halted in sea after high temperature alarm rings

Update: Vice-Chairman & CEO, Gujarat Maritime Board, Mukesh Kumar said that the ship with a maximum capacity of 525 passengers got an high temperature alarm and its engine stopped working. After that two tug boats tugged it back to Ghogha safely. There were 461 passengers and around 90 vehicles on board.’We are going to use the Ro-Ro boat Indigo sea for the evening services. We will examine the technical faults of the Ro-pax boat and see what went wrong and how it could be mended,’ he added.

Ro-Ro ferry operator DG Seaconnect informed: ROPAX trips are cancelled for 22nd November(tomorrow), while Indigo One – the passenger only ferry is operating and active. 100% refund to be issued within 10 days for online direct booking. Agents will refund 100% in case of booking through Agents.

Bhavnagar: Dahej – Ghogha Ro-Pax ferry ship ‘Voyage Symphony’ was stopped in sea around 3 nautical miles away from Ghogha port of Bhavnagar district in Gulf of Khambhat today afternoon. The ship was stopped by captain for technical check after high temperature alarm started ringing.

South Korea made ‘Voyage Symphony’ witnessed ringing of high-temperature alert alarm when it was at around 3 nautical miles from Ghogha port. As captain of the ship conveyed the issue of high temperature alarm t Ghogha office, two tug boats were sent to carry the ship safely to Ghogha port.

The ship with 461 passengers and 91 vehicles was safe. Air conditioning was functional and passengers were doing fine according to CEO of service Mr. Devendra. The ship was stopped at Latitude / Longitude: 21.66993° / 72.37825° in stationary position close to Bhavnagar Anchorage.

According to CEO of service Mr. Devendra, a Captain of the ship noticed high-temperature alert alarm and decided to shut down the engine as precautionary measure. The engine was being checked and two tugs were called for berthing. Things were under control and there was nothing to panic.

‘It could be false alarm too, things are being checked,’ he added.

Ferry service trips scheduled at 5 pm and return are cancelled today.

Gujarat Maritime Board and private operator DG Sea Connect are in action to fix the issue smoothly.
