65th national conference of ABVP begins at Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The inauguration of the 64th ABVP National Conference was held in the presence of Padmashri scientist Dr. A. S. Kiran Kumar, also an Ex-Chairman of ISRO and Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijay Rupani today evening in Ahmedabad. The inauguration ceremony was preceded by the hoisting of flag by National President of ABVP Dr. S. Subbaiah and National General Secretary of ABVP Shri Ashish Chauhan.

3700 delegates from all over India are present making a purview of ‘Mini India’ at Karnavati. Along with this, 45 delegates from Nepal are also participating the event. The theme of the Conference is ‘Bharat- Gaurav’ i.e, pride of India. The venue is Sabarmati riverfront where the Conference area is named as ‘Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Nagar’. The main dome is named after Krantiveer Shanti Krishna Verma.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. A.S Kiran Kumar ji said he feels highly delighted and honored that the conference venue is named after Vikram Sarabhai who was the founder of ISRO. He felt happy to witness mini India at Karnavati. He said he believes that India has come a way forward in technological advancements and space reach. India became first to reach Mars in one attempt and found water on Moon through Chandrayan which is a proud achievement. He congratulated the delegates to be a part of change and a glorious India.

Chief Guest Shri Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat said that he is a chief minister later, but firstly a member of ABVP. He recalled his days as an ABVP activist. He said ABVP has always fought against casteism, oppression, naxalism and regionalism. ABVP has played a major role during emergency.ABVP has constantly worked for social harmony. He said that, ABVPians live for nation, serve for nation and die for nation.

Speaking at inaugural function, Ashish Chauhan said, 64th National Conference defines the long glorious journey of 70 years of ABVP. ABVP will establish conversations for constructiveness in the campus. Mission Sahasi to train more than 7 lakh girl students in self defence is such example of constructiveness of ABVP.

Dr. S. Subbaiah said, we ABVPians are not afraid of hard work and struggle as we come from a legacy of legendary personalities who are not afraid of sacrifices. He said that Hindi is not his mother tongue but is a language of his motherland.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a letter to wish the delegates for the conference and congratulated them for being a part of building New India. He appreciated ABVP for bringing up issues and discussing them in a constructive course. The message was read by National media convenor of ABVP Ms. Monika Chaudhary. ABVP’s theme song for the National Conference on ‘Bharat Gaurav’ was also launched.

Reception committee’s working President Parindu Bhagat, Secretary Pradeep Singh Vaghela, Patron Surendra Kaka and Mayor of city Bijal Ben Patel were also present in the ceremony.

The conference would be held from 27-30 December 2018. Several educational, social and developmental issues related to nation will be discussed in the conference. The main highlight includes 2 speech sessions and a parallel session where 11 topics would be discussed together. There is an exhibition on the theme of ‘Bharat Gaurav’ which is even open for the main public.
