Ghar hoy tya vaasano khakhde pann khara: Ahmed Patel on buzz relating to meeting at Modhwadia’s residence

Ahmedabad:Senior Gujarat Congress leader and national treasurer of Indian National Congress, Ahmed Patel today arrived at Sardar Patel airport here to attend a convention of Congress party at Himmatnagar in North Gujarat. Media persons waiting outside asked him questions regarding recent meeting held at former state party chief Arjun Modhwadia’s residence in which 17 State Congress leaders were present. In briefing post this meeting, at least three State Congress leaders had expressed their displeasure over style of functioning, decision making process, approach of state party chief Amit Chavda and distribution of organizational posts to wrong persons.

“I have come to attend a party programme, and there’s nothing serious in it. My today’s visit was scheduled 15 days ago,” said Ahmed Shah de-linking his visit to controversial meeting held at Modhwadia’s residence.

When asked specifically about a meeting of 17 State Congress leaders held at former state party chief Arjun Modhwadia’s residence recently, Ahmed Patel said, “Arjun Modhwadia is here only. I have no information or knowledge(regarding the meeting), meetings keep taking place and family matters are discussed. In fact there’s a war going on on the other side (in BJP) and cabinet ministers (Nitin Gadkari) give bytes(to media). We have nothing to match here. Everything is going on well(in Gujarat Congress).”

When asked about his possible meeting with state party chief Amit Chavda during today’s visit, Ahmed Patel said, “Amit Chavda is also going to come there(in party function at Himmatnagar today), we will meet and there’s nothing new taking place.”

Regarding the differences in State Congress in the backdrop of meeting of 17 State Congress leaders at Arjun Modhwadia’s residence recently, Ahmed Patel said, “Ghar hoy tya vasan khakhde pann khara(Gujarati proverb meaning – utensils kept together at home would make noise which is obvious), and then everything is restored to order, and I am sure everything is fine only and when election arrives, all will fight it jointly and we will get more than 15 Lok Sabha seats(out of 26) in Gujarat.”
