January 24, 2019
Palanpur: Congress MLA and Thakor Sena leader Alpesh Thakor today rejected speculations regarding him joining the BJP ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Alpesh who is on yatra covering Thakor community populated areas of North Gujarat yesterday greeted and met with BJP leader and former minister Shankarbhai Chaudhary at Bhabhar town, video of which has gone viral on social media. A brief informal meeting of two leaders in public triggered further speculations regarding Alpesh’s switch over to BJP anytime in future. The meeting was visibly candid, but local sources believe it was very much planned. Alpesh has in recent months expressed his displeasure with functioning of State Congress leadership number of times in public. Shankar Chaudhary is one of top leaders of State BJP team. He lost last assembly election against Congress candidate and Alpesh Thakor aide Geniben Thakor apparently due to caste polarization.
