17.458 sqkm increase in VMC limits as Gujarat govt. OKays inclusion of more areas

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today announced its decision to include total areas of Gorva, Sama, Harni, Bapod, Tarsali and Kalali village in the limits of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC). This will add 17.458 square km additional area to the limits of VMC.
The areas were neither in the limits of VMC nor they had provision of Gram Panchayats anymore. The locals had made representation, in response of which, the Chief Minister took decision to include all leftover areas of these localities in VMC limit.
The areas included to VMC limits are – Gorva Panchvati to Udera village 0.842 sqkm (Ganganagar, Ajaynagar, Jalaramnagar, Indiranagar), Post Harni bypass 9.096 sqkm (Darjipura, Jivrajnagar), post Samakenal 1.576 sqkm(Vasahats outside the canal), post Tarsali national highway number eight 2.644 sqm area, Bapod, eastern side 700 sqkm area of national highway eight and post Kanali canal 2.57 sqkm area.
