Pipavav-Surat Ro-Ro ferry, Somnath-Mandvi cruise services to be launched: Rupani in Rajkot

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today laid the foundation stone of Gujarat’s first-ever 6-lane flyover over single-piers to be built at a cost of Rs.90-crore near Gondal Crossing at Rajkot city for a permanent solution to traffic snarls.
He said that another flyover will be built on the other end of Rajkot’s 150-feet wide Ring Road near Madhapar Crossing, for which the state government has already made financial allocation.

Rupani said the Ghogha-Dahej Ro-Ro Ferry Service will be shortly extended as to Pipavav-Surat and cruise service will be launched connecting Somnath-Porbandar-Dwarka-Mandvi.

With deference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, he said, Gujarat plans a number of other infrastructure projects for better connectivity and mobility, like Bharat Mala Highway Project.

Rupani said the process of allocating 330-acre land for All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) has begun. The project is sure to benefit the entire Saurashtra region.

Union Minister of State for Roads & Transport Mansukh Mandavia said the flyover being built at Rajkot would not only ease traffic snarls of the city but also road traffic towards Junagadh and Porbandar districts. The work on detailed project report (DPR) to make 70-km Rajkot-Jetpur Road into 6-lane would start soon. The work on the Rs.8,800-cr Mundra-Dwarka-Somnath-Bhavnagar Coastal Highway is on fast-track. He said the Central Government has built 40,000 km of roads during the last four years, while that on 53,000 km is in progress.
