Private schools in Morbi district of Gujarat go on indefinite strike

Morbi: More than 300 schools in Morbi taluka are on indefinite strike protesting against alleged bogus atrocity case against private school operator and four teachers in Tankara. Private school operators have submitted memorandums in collector and district police chief offices seeking quashing of bogus atrocity complaint.

All self finance schools of Morbi district on 1st February decided to go on indefinite strike with effect from February 2 until ‘bogus atrocity complaint’ against Life Links school teachers and operator is quashed.

According to Mandal’s Manojbhai Oganja, PD Kajiya, Atul Patel, Jayeshbhai Gami, Nileshbhai Kundariya, Mahesh Saddariya, an incident of beating up the students in school was captured in CCTV camera and those responsible should face procedure, but addition of atrocity case in this incident was utter misuse of law.

Victim students were beaten up after some students burst cracker in school. One of students had suffered fracture in leg. Another claimed he was beaten up with cricket bet, stick and belt. One of students Chirag Pariya belongs to Schedule Caste. He has claimed he was verbal abused for his caste. Chirag’s father Jagdishbhai said his son was beaten up by teachers and he should get justice.

Controversial atrocity act often attracts headlines over its alleged misuse.
