BJP captures Thara municipality after defection of two Congress Councillors

Palanpur: Thara municipality of Banaskantha district in North Gujarat is now BJP-ruled after two rebel Councillors Karimkhan Ghori and Ambaben Makwana of Congress party decided today to vote for BJP in the board meeting held for election of president and vice president.
Congress and BJP each had 12-12 seats in their fold in Thara municipality post election. Later one seat turned vacant which brought the number of BJP Councillors down at 11. With two Councillors joining BJP, Thara municipality board elected BJP’s Bharti Akhani as president and Vasantji Thakor as vice president.
