Gujarat govt. forms 3-minister panel for solution of GSRTC and primary school teachers strike

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today in a statement said it has formed a committee of three ministers regarding ongoing agitation and strike of primary school teachers and Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation(GSRTC) employees. The committee includes Dy CM Nitin Patel, transport minister RC Faldu and education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama. This committee will hold talks with agitating employees and bring solution to issues for which the employees are on strike.

It’s worth noting that over 40,000 GSRTC employees are on mass leave since midnight yesterday seeking implementation of 7th pay commission for GSRTC employees. GSRTC is loss making public sector unit of State government. The government is of opinion that loss making corporation can’t be given benefits of 7th pay commission. On the other hand, the GSRTC staff unions argue that they were given benefits of 5th and 6th pay commission under BJP government, and GSRTC was loss making PSU even then, why not 7th pay commission pay hike now? Why change in govt policy? Union leaders said their demand is three-year old. They said profit-making 19 PSUs are given 7th pay panel benefits.
