GMU to offer courses from next academic year, website launched

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Maritime University(GMU) will start functioning from next academic year with School of Maritime Law, Policy and Administration. The school will offer two post graduate courses such as LLM in maritime law and LLM in international trade law.

According to Chief Secretary Dr. JN Singh who today launched the website of GMU, the university will be set up by Gujarat Maritime Board(GMB).He said there are more than 130 educational institutions in maritime sector across the country but their main focus remains technical subjects.

Mukesh Kumar, CEO and Provost of GMU said, GMU in first phase will offer maritime law, shipping finance and economics, maritime management, logistics ship broking, ship finance, ship management etc courses. GMU will also offer short term EDP and MDP courses. The second phase will cover technical education.

Until it gets its separate building, GMU will function at National Law University. Process to identify suitable land for GMU in knowledge corridor is underway.
