Gujarat CM, MoS Home ask police to take prompt action in journalist Chirag Patel mysterious death case

Gandhinagar: Gujarat BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya today while speaking to media persons said that BJP expresses deep sorrow over death of young journalist Chirag Patel. State party chief Jitubhai Vaghani has spoken to Chief Minister in this regard.

Chief Minister Rupani and minister of state for home Pradipsinh Jadeja have asked police department to take prompt action in this case. The government is determined to give justice to victim’s family.

Probe into this incident is going on. As soon as evidences are found, whoever is guilty will face strictest procedure.

Pandya said this is not political issue, it is an issue of samvedana and nyaya for which the government is committed.

Charred dead body of Chirag Patel, a copy editor/assistant producer journo of TV9 Gujarati news channel was last Saturday morning found near canal in Kathwada area which comes under Nikol police station. Chirag’s bike was found near his dead body but his mobile phone was missing. The incident probably took place on Friday when Chirag was on weekly leave. He left his house, had energy drink at nearby shop and later called his brother to transfer Rs. 10,000 via mobile. His mobile phone was later switched off. His dead body was spotted next day morning near canal in Kathwada area by a random person who called police. As per CCTV footage, Chirag had visited Chiloda that day. The location where Chirag’s dead body has been found has no CCTV cameras installed. Phone call records have not offered any significant clue so far as per reports. Chirag was a young, enthusiastic, energetic and promising boy with mixing and cooperative nature. Media persons are tweeting and making Facebook posts with #Justice4Chirag hashtag since Monday morning as there are no updates from police on progress of investigation in this case. A candle light rally has been planned by media persons at 9 pm at Vastrapur lake today.
