Surendranagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) today announced a list of 15 candidates for Lok Sabha general elections in Gujarat. Of them 14 are sitting MPs who are repeated while only one is a new face. He is Dr. Mahendra Kalubhai Munjapara, a candidate declared for Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat.

Munjapara whose name has come as surprise is practicing doctor and central council member of Indian Medical Association.

Born in 1968 he lives in Wadhwan town located at district headquarters.

Munjapara belongs to Chuvaliya Koli (Thakor) community.

His son and daughter are medical students. His wife is BAMS Ayurvedic doctor. His Janseva hospital is located in Surendranagar town. Munjapara was student of NHL medical college in Ahmedabad. He has done internship at PHS Sabarmati, LG hospital, VS hospital in Ahmedabad and CU Shah medical centre in Surendranagar.

As MD(Medicine) he has served as lecturer in medical oncology department of Gujarat cancer and research institute, MP Shah cancer hospital, Dr. Sudhir Shah’s neurology centre and Muljibhai Patel urological hospital in Nadiad.

Dr Munjapara has worked as consulting physician, Shree Ram medical centre and Ram Bhojanalaya.

He is assistant professor in CU Shah medical college.

He heads Surendranagar district chunvaliya koli yuva samaj. He is trustee of Shri samast chunvaliya thakor koli velnath pragati mandal.

As per his bio-data, circulated by party, Dr. Munjapara has served as many as 8 lakh patients through various medical camps and across the hospitals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stressed on education while addressing a function of Koli community last month via video conferencing in Gujarat. He had asked the community member to start educational activities and create related infrastructure in movement mode for upliftment of community. He had given example of other communities that progressed very speedily thanks to education. Modi’s selection of Munjapara is in same line.
