Nomination for all 26 LS seats and 5 assembly seats (for bypoll) to begin from tomorrow

Gandhinagar: The nomination process for all the 26 Lok sabha seats and five assembly seats where by-poll is to be held on the same day ie April 23, would begin with the issue of notification from tomorrow.
Chief Electoral Officer S MuraliKrishna today said that the last date for filing of nominations is April 4, while scrutiny of nominations will be held on April 5.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 8.
Voting will be held on April 23 while counting of votes will be done on May 23.
He said that apart from 26 loksabha seats by poll on five seats Unjha, Jamnagar Rural, Dhrangadhra, Manavadar (due to resignation of Congress MLAs) and Talala (due to disqualification of Congress MLA Bhagwan Barad owing to conviction in a case) would also be held on the same day and nomination for these seats would also be done as per the same schedule.
Krishna said that around 4.47 crore voters of whom 2.14 crore were female ,could exercise their franchise on 51851 polling station across the 26 constituencies.
The number of polling booths have increased by 6458 in comparison to the last general election in 2014.
All the 26 seats were won by BJP in the last election.
