Former MLA Shamji Chauhan rejoins BJP, Lodhika taluka panchayat now BJP ruled

Gandhinagar: Former parliamentary secretary and Koli community leader Shamjibhai Chauhan today rejoined ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) in presence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at State party headquarters Kamalm here. Shamjibhai joined BJP with other Koli community leaders from Surendranagar district namely Vaghjibhai, Hematbhai, Nathabhai and large number of his supporters. Shamjibhai had left BJP when he was denied assembly ticket. He had joined Congress and worked for Congress candidates in assembly general election. He left Congress early this week as he was denied what he calls ‘promised’ ticket to contest from Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat.

Welcoming Shamjibhai by offering him saffron scarf, Chief Minister Rupani said BJP has taken over three taluka panchayats of Surendranagar seat namely Limdi, Sayla and Chuda that were earlier ruled by Congress. He said the district panchayat body of Surendranagar has also been taken over by BJP after five district panchayat members left Congress. The Congress party is demolished in Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat area, he added.

Rupani said, the joining of various leaders will ensure victory of BJP on all seats of Saurashtra.

Rupani also announced induction of Lodhika taluka panchayat president, vice president and members in BJP.

He said, ‘under Rajkot Lok Sabha seat area, Congress was ruling Vinchhiya, Jasdan, Wankaner, Kotda and Lodhika taluka panchayats. Today they all are with BJP. Even in district pancahyat of Rajkot, 11 members of Congress party joined BJP recently. Congress has been demolished in entire Rajkot Lok Sabha seat area. Thousands of Congress workers are joining BJP. Lodhika taluka panchayat has been strong hold of Congress for last many years. MLA Lakhabhai who represents that area is also present here. BJP will win Rajkot Lok Sabha seat with huge margin.’
