Another Interceptor Boat commissioned in Indian Coast Guard fleet in Porbandar, the advanced one is capable of chasing in shallow waters too

Porbandar: Indian Coast Guard has commissioned ICGS C-445 in their fleet at Porbandar which is the Seventh Interceptor Boat in the series of 18 IB project.

The vessel is more than 27 meters in length and has a load carrying capacity of about 106 tons.
Capable of achieving a throttle speed of 45 knots, it can do chasing even in shallow waters with its jet propulsion. The boat is also fitted with advanced navigational and communication equipment increasing its reach deep into the sea. This vessel will also be entrusted with surveillance, maritime interdiction, search and rescue and shall concurrently respond to rendering assistance to boats reporting distress.

Gujarat Defence Spokesperson Col Sombit Ghosh today said that the ship commissioned yesterday was under series of 18 IB project by M/s L&T Shipbuilding Ltd, Hazira.

Dr JN Singh, IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt of Gujarat was the Chief Guest. Rear Admiral Sanjay Roye, Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area, other senior officers of Indian Coast Guard, dignitaries from L&T Shipyard, Uniformed personnel and distinguished guests from Central & State government agencies were also present on the occasion, he said.
