Congress should be ready to face ‘consequences’ if I am dismissed from MLA post: Alpesh Thakor

Ahmedabad: Thakor Sena leader Alpesh Thakor who has not resinged from MLA post despite quitting the Congress party on whose ticket he was elected from Radhanpur seat in last assembly election, today warned his former party to be ready to face ‘consequences’ if he was dismissed from the assembly membership.

Thakor, who had resigned from Congress on April 10 alleging betrayal, today said that he would not give up the MLA post and even try with all his strength to retain it. ‘If Congress party got him dismissed from MLA post it should be ready to face consequences,’ he said.

He said that he knew many leaders who were in the party despite working against it.
He also said why Congress did not take steps for his ouster from the assembly before the election in Gujarat.

Thakor said that he would also reveal many internal ‘settings’ of the Congress party.

Congress had yesterday submitted an application in Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi’s office demanding dismissal of Thakor from the MLA post/membership of the house.

The party in the application has said that Thakor had not only resigned from the party but also indulged in anti party activities by campaigning against official Congress candidates in Banaskantha Loksabha cosntituency and Unjha assembly segment where by poll was held. As per the rules he was not entitled to continue as an MLA. .

Notably, Alpesh had on April 10 resigned from all posts of Congress including national secretary and the co-incharge of the party in Bihar, alleging that the party to which he had helped during hour of need had betrayed him and his community. He had however refused to give up the MLA post saying that he would continue to serve his community.

He had later campaigned for his outfit Thakor Sena’s candidates in Banaskantha and Unjha.

Speaker Trivedi has said that he would take a decision after detailed study of the application.
