Dy CM Nitin Patel visits Lhor village where a community was allegedly boycotted

Mahesana: Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel today visited Lhor village of Kadi taluka in Mahesana district of North Gujarat where boycott of SC(schedule caste) community was reported yesterday.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister of Gujarat Ishwarbhai Parmar had yesterday ordered a probe into this incident. The boycott had allegedly started two days ago when Varghoda ceremony (taking out a procession with bridegroom sitting on horse’s back before marriage) of a local SC youth Mehul Parmar was being held.
The local Sarpanch and others allegedly opposed it. Later they allegedly gave a boycott call saying that whoever in the village would provide anything to SC(schedule caste) would be fined Rs 5000.
Following a complaint,range IG, SP, Collector and other senior police and administrative officials had visited Lhor village and held talks with villagers. Police force was also deployed in the village and five persons were detained. Those booked include village sarpanch Vinuji Prahladji Thakor, Baldevji Avchalji Thakor, Bhopaji Mangaji Thakor, Manubhai Babubhai Thakor and Gabhaji Ravaji Thakor. They are booked under IPC 143, 504, 506(2) and atrocity act c2(1)(R)(S)Z(A)C3(2)5A.
