BJP slams Mayawati for making personal remarks against PM

New Delhi: Attacking the Bahujan Samaj Party chief for making personal comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP on Monday said Ms Mayawati’s disappointment is increasing as polling for general elections is coming to end and she can see her impending defeat.

‘Disappointment of Ms Mayawati is increasing as polls are coming to a close. This is her ‘hatasha’ (disappointment) only,’ BJP leader and Union minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.

Hitting back at Mr Modi’s remarks of “shedding crocodile tears” over the Alwar gang-rape, BSP leader Mayawati said the BJP has never respected women and playing “dirty politics” over the Alwar case during the election.

The Prime Minister, who has given up his life for the country, is being attacked. His family is also being attacked, Mr Javadekar said.

BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha Rao said that Ms Mayawati does not answer why she has not withdrawn support to the Congress government in Rajasthan, as they are supporting the minority government even after the rape incident of a dalit girl in Alwar.

“Narendra Modi was silent on Alwar gangrape case. But now he is trying to play dirty politics over it. So that in the elections his party can be benefited. It is extremely shamefully. How can he respect others’ sisters and wives when he has left his own wife for political gains?,” she questioned. She also said married women are very apprehensive of their husband going close to Mr Modi thinking that like him, their husband too will leave them.

‘The Prime Minister is the pride of the nation. Seventy crore women of the country support him,’ Mr Rao said, adding that he upheld the dignity of women.

He said lakhs of toilets were constructed for poor women and cited a number of schemes rolled by the Modi government for the women lot.

Modi is the first Prime Minister to ensure health of women with free LPG and other programmes.

Women were responsible for the BJP upsurge in 2019 and Ms Mayawati will have to apologise for her comments, Mr Rao told reporters, adding that people will not tolerate such negative comments.

Union Minister Arun Jaitley said Ms Mayawati’s personal attack on the Prime Minister showed she was unfit to hold any public post.

In a tweet he said, ‘Behan Mayawati – She is firm on becoming a Prime Minister. Her governance, ethics and discourse stoops to an all-time low. Her personal attack on the Prime Minister exposes her as unfit for public life.”

The reaction of Mayawati came, after on Sunday the Prime Minister demanded that she announce withdrawal of support to the Congress government in Rajasthan, as they are supporting the minority government even after the rape incident of a dalit girl in Alwar.

He also alleged that BSP president was only shedding crocodile tears while supporting a Congress government in Rajasthan which is responsible for the incident.

Jaitley calls Mayawati unfit; says Mamata throttling democracy in Bengal

New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said on one hand West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is killing the democracy on the other BSP chief Mayawati’s attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that she is not fit for the politics.

Referring to an incident in which BJP president Amit Shah’s public rally was cancelled in Jadavpur as his chopper was not given permission for landing in the area, Mr Jaitley said this is what India’s opposition has to offer to the nation.

“Mamata Didi – Democracy has become a casualty in Bengal. Opposition workers are murdered, candidates are attacked, polling booths are captured and Opposition leaders are not entitled to organise rallies,” Mr Jaitley said in his Twitter handle.

Mayawati only demeaned stature of her own leadership & positions she held: Sitharaman

New Delhi: Slamming the BSP chief for making derogatory comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and women in the BJP, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Ms Mayawati has only demeaned the stature of her own leadership and the positions she has held and it shows that she has no respect left for any position or institution.

‘By her comments on Prime Minister, his personal life and all women in the BJP who are absolutely safe, Mayawati ji has only demeaned the stature of her own leadership and the positions she has held,’ Ms Sitharaman along with party leader Bizay Shastri said in a press conference here.

Ms Sitharaman said this only shows that she has no respect left for any position or institution.

Hitting back at Mr Modi’s remarks of “shedding crocodile tears” over the Alwar gang-rape, BSP leader Mayawati said the BJP has never respected women and playing “dirty politics” over the Alwar case during the election.

‘It is absolutely disappointing and shocking that Ms Mayawati has spoken so ill about Prime Minister, his personal life and the women in BJP,’ the Defence Minister said, adding that ‘Mayawati ji, please be assured we’re all absolutely safe, secure and have good professional relationships in our party.’

‘You don’t have to worry about us. Clearly having been in politics for long, she knows that the mahagathbandhan is going nowhere,’ the minister said.

She said the Prime Minister demanded some fair answers that ‘will Ms Mayawati take up the cause of the Dalit girl’, as the case was pending without an FIR.

‘You represent oppressed classes then why did you remain silent, ‘ Ms Sitharaman demanded and added that the BSP chief was only revealing that she is imminently facing a political failure.

Ms Mayawati has understood that her gathbandhan (with SP) is getting nowhere and this is the reason for her worry and sense of insecurity, she pointed out.

Ms Sitharaman demanded that Ms Mayawati apologise for her comment about the Prime Minister and women in the BJP and for forgetting that Dalit girl in Rajasthan.

The reaction of Mayawati came, after on Sunday the Prime Minister demanded that she announce withdrawal of support to the Congress government in Rajasthan, as they are supporting the minority government even after the rape incident of a dalit girl in Alwar.

Dr Shastri said in the last phase of general elections, it has become clear that under the leadership, a majority government will be formed and that is why the opposition is disappointed and a result they are resorting to wrong language and personal comments.

He said, ‘The comment made by Ms Mayawati is a fresh example after she is realising that her party will again not open account in general elections.’

Ms Mayawati is misusing the mission set out by BSP founder Kanshi Ram and Baba Ambedkar, he said, adding that she is not ‘dalit ki beti’ but ‘daulat ki beti’.

Dr Shastri alleged that her income has been increasing every year and looks like her model is similar to ‘Vadra model of corruption’ where wealth was being enhanced through big companies.

He alleged involvement of Ms Mayawati’s brother Anand Kumar in the corruption where ‘black money was being converted to white’ and their fortunes grew exponentially, adding that the Dalit community knows the truth so they were ignoring her.
