Animal Exchange Programme: Gujarat Zoo to give lions to AP, Karnataka

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has given in-principle approval to give two pairs of lions to Mysore based Chamrajendra zoo of Karnataka and one pair to Tirupati zoo in Andhra Pradesh under Animal Exchange Programme.
Mysore zoo will get two pairs of Asiatic lions and one female red necked wallaby from Junagadh based Sakkarbaug zoo to Mysore based zoo. In exchange of this Mysore zoo will give one pair of hippopotamus, one male and two female Gor, one pair of Black swan and one male red necked wallaby.
Sakkarbaug zoo will give one pair of Asiatic lions, one-one pairs of domicile crane and rosy pelican, two pairs of zebra finch, one pair of barking deer, one pair of Thamin deer, one pair of Spoon bill, two pairs of Chinkara to Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati based SV Zoological park.
In exchange, Sakkarbaug zoo of Gujarat will get one pair of jackal, one pair of sloth bear, one pair of Indian Gor, one male Bengal white tiger and one pair of porcupine.
