Ahmedabad: Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Parshottam Rupala today said that by taking its first decision in favour of farmers, the Narendra Modi government has shown its direction.
Talking to newsmen at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here after his first home-state visit following oath taking, Rupala said that PM Narendra Modi has in its first cabinet meeting decided to increase the cover of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for all the farmers.
‘Now there won’t be any limit regarding farm size. Earlier the farmers with maximum 2 hectare of land were eligible for the scheme but the PM has now lifted this limit and the cabinet has given approval to the inclusion of all the farmers of the country in the scheme. It shows the direction of the government,’ he said.
Notably, the BJP had included this promise in its election manifesto/sankalp patra. Apart from inclusion of all the farmers in the scheme which provides for payment of Rs 6000 annually to them, the government has also announced to implement pension scheme for farmers.
Rupala, who was also a MoS with similar portfolio in the earlier NDA government, was accorded warm welcome on his arrival here.
