Gandhinagar: A high-level meeting of Gujarat BJP led by State party president Jitubhai Vaghani was held here to discuss party’s plans for upcoming elections in the State.

According to State BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya, the meetig discussed party’s plans and programmes for upcoming general election of Junagadh Municipal Corporation(JMC) and by-polls of 15 municipalities.

Junagadh is one of six municipal corporation bodies in Gujarat. It is located in Saurashtra region. There are total 60 seats in this municipal corporation. In July, 2014, BJP had won this civic body by winning 41 of 60 seats. In previous term, this civic body was ruled by Congress.

Junagadh assembly seat is with Congress, however in recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Junagadh voted for BJP overwhelmingly. BJP candidate of Lok Sabha in was leading by 42,427 votes in Junagadh assembly seat.
