Red level heat wave alert in Ahmedabad for two days, Met to monitor movement of monsoon before announcing its likely arrival time for Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Even as the South Western Monsoon today set its foot in Kerala, many areas of North Gujarat and Saurashtra are experiencing heat-wave and Red level alert ie likelihood of the maximum temperature going beyond 45 °C has been given for Ahmedabad city for today and tomorrow.
IMD center Director Jayant Sarkar today said that the monsoon has arrived in Kerala today and its movement would be monitored before taking a call on as to when it would reach Gujarat where the normal time for the same was the third week of June.
He said that two more days of heat-wave warning ie for today and tomorrow has been issued.
‘Red level alert has been given for Ahmedabad where the temperatures are likely to soar above 45 °C,’ he said.
He said that the heat wave was likely to prevail in parts of Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar districts in North Gujarat and in Ahmedabad. Apart for it it would be there in Surendrangar, Rajkot, Amreli and Kutch also.
