ACB nabs fake Dy Mamlatdar from state guest house in Gujarat taking bribe of 3 lakh

Surat: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat Police today nabbed red-handed two persons including the one posing to be a deputy Mamlatdar from state guest house in Valthan area under Kamrej taluka of Surat taking bribe of Rs three lakh from a man.

Assistant Director of the ACB D P Chudasama said that one Bhavin D Thakkar resident of Ambawadi area in Ahmedabad had posed as Deputy Mamlatdar and demanded Rs 10 lakh bribe from the complainant whose house in the Surat city had reportedly fallen in town planning area of the SMC meant for road.

Bhavin had claimed that the Town Planning Officer of the SMC was his friend and he would manage the things so that the house of the complainant would not be demolished by the corporation for paving way for road.

He had through his acquaintance Jagdish H Varu resident of Olpad in Surat earlier taken Rs 50 thousand and had agreed to take Rs 8 lakh for helping him out. He had also threatened that if he did not pay the money he would get his house demolished.

The ACB laid a trap today and nabbed the duo from room number 4 of the guest house in Valthan under Kamrej taluka of Surat red handed taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh as an installment of the bribe.
