Gujarat govt. recovered Rs. 21.85 crore bond money in 2 years from doctors who failed to serve in rural areas

Gandhinagar: In a reply in the assembly the Gujarat government today said that only some students appear to serve rural area after completion of medical education and internship while others defy the bond they had signed.
There’s a rule for serving in rural areas for 3 years after completing MBBS education and internship for medical students. The students have to sign bond to commit that they shall serve in rural areas for three years.
The government in its reply said it has recovered Rs. 21,85,25,000 (Rs. 21.85 crore around) in last two years from total 1490 candidates who didn’t appear to serve rural area.
