5307 cu sec water released from Narmada dam for irrigation;level rises to 120.03 meter

Gandhinagar: 5307 cu sec water has been released from main canal of Narmada dam near Bhumaliya at 8 am today, said the government adding that the water released today will be used for irrigation in needy areas including Dhrangadhra, Halvad, Morbi Wadhvan, Viramgam, Patdi, Mandal, Sami, Harij, Radhanpur, Santalpur, Bhabhar, Vav-tharad, Rapar and Bhachau.

According to Vikas Khoda, assistant engineer of Kevadiya sub-division, till yesterday the water released was in volume of 2800 cu sec.

He further said that due to rainfall in upstream catchment areas of Narmada dam, 16,000 cu sec inflow was registered at 8 am on July 4, thanks to which at 8 am today, the level of water in the dam rose to 120.03 meter. This is 17 cm increase in a day.
