Valsad: Madhban dam over river Damanganga in South Gujarat has received heavy inflow of over 24,000 cu sec water following which 5 gates of dam are partially opened for release of surplus water in downstream area of Damanganga river. Volume of water released in the afternoon today was 35,000 cu sec. Low lying areas including 18 vulnerable villages are alerted and locals are asked to stay away from river bank.

In other related developments river Orsang in Central Gujarat is richer and flooding due to heavy rainfall in upstream catchment areas.
