Rajkot: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat police today nabbed a senior Income Tax officer from his office here red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 30,000/- from a man for not leveling penalty on a scrutiny notice for assessment year 2017-18.

Assistant Director of the ACB D P Chudasama said that IT officer grade 2 at the Income Tax office in Race course road of the city, Narshibhai P Solanki (53) has sought the bribe from a man who had got the scrutiny notice of Rs 12 lakh. He had demanded Rs 90 thousand for the settlement of the matter and had letter agreed to take Rs 30 thousand.

Based on the secret complaint he was nabbed during a trap by the ACB. He was caught when he told the complainant to put the money in his office table drawer.
