ASIs and constables will need to surrender service revolver after duty hours: Rajkot Police Commissioner orders

Rajkot: Rajkot Police Commissioner has announced a decision that Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) and constables will not be allowed to take service revolver to home. They will need to surrender the weapon after their duty is over.

The decision has been taken after an incident in which lady ASI and paramour constable were found dead at lady ASI’s residence in the city.

In a tragic end to the love-story between two police personnel, the dead bodies of a lady ASI and her lover constable with bullet wounds, were recovered from the former’s residence in Rajkot yesterday.

ASI Khusbu Kanabar (28) was in to a relationship with already married constable Ravirajsinh Jadeja (30), both of whom were posted in the same University police station in the city.

When the family members of Raviraj searched for him as his phone was switched off and he had not returned home last night, he was found dead in the residence of Khushbu situated near 150 ft ring road where she lived alone.

Close to him on the bed was the body of the lady ASI with a bullet marked hole in her head. The service revolver of Jadeja was also lying there and two bullets were fired from it.

JCP Ajay Chaudhary said that prima facie it seemed to be a case of suicide due to love affair. The FSL team was doing further investigation.

Meanwhile a policeman close to Jadeja said that the lady ASI, a native of Jamnagar was living here for last 3 years. She was in to a relationship with him.

The possibility of Jadeja first killing the lady and them committing suicide could not be ruled out. He was married and survived by wife and girl child.
