July 12, 2019
Gandhinagar: MLAs of Gujarat Assembly will no more be able to record, circulate or upload videos of their speech in the assembly. Dy CM Nitin Patel today raised a matter before Speaker in the assembly and pointed out that some MLAs were uploading videos of procedure in house on social media. Patel went on to say that eventually some MLA could also blackmail some contractor through such activity. The Speaker asked MLAs not to record, circulate and upload videos of house procedure.
It’s worth noting that procedure of assembly is aired live to various offices within the assembly complex on TV screens. Opposition MLAs often record videos through their assistants via TV screen in opposition office in assembly complex. Ban for media on recording and airing of assembly procedure is already in place by Speaker. Information department of Government of Gujarat releases daily half an hour bulletin of assembly procedure on Gujarati news channels by purchasing slots. Special permission for live telecast of budget speech is granted by Speaker.
