Lioness found dead in Gir East forest, Leopard electrocuted with 2 peahens in farm close to eastern parts of the jungle

Junagadh: A leopard was electrocuted along with 2 peahen at place clsoe to West Gir forest today while the body of a lioness was found in the Eastern part of the jungle situated in Saurashtra region of Gujarat, CCF Junagadh D T Vasavada informed.
In the first incident the around 7 to 8 year old male leopard tried to catch the two peahen sitting near a transformer in a farm in Govindpur Bhandariya area of Jamavala range and Ghantvad round of west Gir forest in Gir Somnath district. All the three came in contact with current and died on the spot.
In another incident the body of an around 6 to 7 years old lioness was found at around 11 am today in Matanmala beat of Dalkhaniya range of Gir East forests in Amreli district. All the nails of the dead big cat were found to be intact. The reason behind its death was not yet known, he said.
