World’s largest online bus ticketing platform redBus launches offer of Rs 99 ticket on selected routes in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: World’s largest online bus ticketing platform redBus has launched ‘Bus99’, a limited period offer that allows travelers to avail bus tickets for as low as Rupees 99/- on selected routes within Gujarat and a few interstate journeys originating from this western state.

CEO, redBus, Prakash Sangam, today said that the special offer applies to bookings on select routes within the state of Gujarat and a few interstate journeys originating from here, between the July 24 and the August 10.

The ‘Bus99’ promotional offer is applicable for journeys between the cities of Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Surat, within the state and also to popular interstate destinations such as, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur and Indore, subject to availability.

Special fares are being offered in the range of Rupees 99, 199, 299 – and up to Rupees 999, on various classes and types of buses, such as Air Conditioned, Non-Air Conditioned, Volvo and Mercedes Benz, in seater and sleeper configurations. An Ahmedabad – Mumbai, Volvo, costing Rupees 1000+ on average on a normal day, is available for Rupees 99, during the offer period.

Sangam said, “ Conceived in conjunction with some of our partner bus operators, the primary objective is to attract a large number of passengers on some of the key routes in the state to take buses instead of other travel modes. This would aid the growth of the intercity bus industry as well as accelerating online transactions of bus tickets.”

Bus operators that are part of the ‘Bus99’ campaign are, Neeta Tours & Travels, Gujarat Travels, Shrinath Travel Agency, Shrinath Travel & Transport Agency and Kabra Express Logistics Pvt. Ltd. The campaign also allows operators to acquire new customers and ensures optimum use of inventory, evident from the success of earlier editions of the concept. A major share of travelers availing this offer are expected to be young working professionals, business travelers and students, who would benefit the most from the offer, especially during the weekends, he added.

Notably redBus was founded in 2006 in India and today is the world’s largest online bus ticketing platform. redBus also launched operations in Singapore and Malaysia in 2015 and acquired a majority stake in Peru based bus ticketing platform Busportal (now redBus.Pe) in the subsequent year. With this acquisition, redBus successfully launched operations in Latin America markets, Peru & shortly thereafter, Colombia. It has globally sold more than 180 million bus tickets till date and has a customer base of around 20 million users. redBus is now part of the MakeMyTrip group (Nasdaq, MMYT) which is the largest travel aggregator in India with offerings across categories such as Flights, Hotels, Holiday Packages, etc.
