Surat Collector sends report to State govt proposing hike in Jantri of 8 villages on bullet train route

Surat: It is learnt that district collector of Surat has sent a proposal to State government for hike in Jantri rates in 8 villages that are on the route of proposed Ahmedabad – Mumbai bullet train. The locals in these villages of Surat district are refusing to give their land for high-speed rail project because of Jantri rate as low as Rs. 100. The villages are Kushlad, Mulad, Kareli, Kimamali, Ghaludi and Shekhpur in Olpad taluka and Hathuran and Kuvanda in Mangrol taluka.

Olpad MLA Mukesh Patel had led attention to Chief Minister Rupani in this regard. The Chief Minister had in response sought report from district collector.
